Mrs Columbus Speaks Out
For the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in 'The New World' I wrote and performed in "Mrs Columbus Speaks Out". Christopher's mother rises from the grave to find out why her son is still famous so long after his death. Linking the past with the present, through song, narrative and visual images, she is aghast to discover the appalling legacy of her son's actions.
Funded by NALGO, it was directed by Kath McCreary, the images were devised and made by Paul Colbeck, and the music was mixed and engineered by my son John Rocca – who also provided the percussion. It toured the UK and Ireland doing 31 performances.
